BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, OCT 10 – A delegation from the Brunei Darussalam Scout Federation (PPNBD) attended the 19th ASEAN Scout Association Regional Cooperation Conference (ASARC) which took place at the Boy Scouts of the Philippines Headquarters, Manila, from October 4 to 6.
The PPNBD delegation led by PPNBD Chairman, Dato Paduka Ar Haji Idris bin Haji Abas, was also accompanied by the Chief Commissioner of Scouting, Haji Junaidi bin Haji Hussin, as well as the Acting Headquarters Commissioner (Media and IT), Awang Muhammad Arman Jahran bin Abdullah Iron.
The conference was hosted by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, aiming to discuss the direction and important issues to advance and ensure the continuity of the ASEAN-level scouting movement. Among the topics discussed include cooperation, friendship and coordination of efforts among the scouting associations of ASEAN member countries.
ASARC is intended and formulated from the spirit of ASEAN, as stated in the association’s charter, with the main goal of fostering brotherhood and regional cooperation. Through closer cooperation, member countries strive to coordinate scouting programs and activities for the benefit of the people, especially the youth.
In addition, ASARC also aims to strengthen cooperation between member countries based on the principles of scouting and the ASEAN Charter, to help the development and promotion of scouting in the countries of the region as well as to deal with scouting issues.
