iPhone 16 launch in Indonesia postponed

JAKARTA, 11 OCT – Apple launched the iPhone 16 globally on 10 September, but its official marketing in Indonesia has been delayed pending permit approval from the Ministry of Industry.

The delay is mainly attributed to the expiration of Apple’s Domestic Component Level (TKDN) certification that needs to be renewed, as well as a shortfall in the promised investment amounting to 1.71 trillion rupiah (about US$109.5 million).

“Apple previously held this certification, but it has expired,” said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita as quoted by local news channels. TV account.

He noted that the ministry is also waiting for the tech giant to fulfill its investment promise.

So far, only 1.48 trillion rupiah has been realized, still short of about 240 billion rupiah, said Agus while hoping that the company will fulfill its investment commitment. – Named
