KUALA LUMPUR, 11 OCT – Malaysia’s mixed doubles head coach, Nova Widianto is impressed with the playing style of Malaysian mixed doubles player, Cheng Su Yin who has become more and more and started to show his fangs, lately.
Widianto said he was happy to see the performance displayed by a 21-year-old player who previously struggled to perform well on the court despite having the quality he showed in training sessions.
“Su Yin is getting braver in terms of her fight on the court but there is still room to improve her skills,” he told reporters after the training session here today.
The former Indonesian player also hopes that Hoo Pang Ron will be able to use his experience to guide his partner Su Yin so as to be able to form a stronger partnership one day.
“Pang Ron is 26 years old and I hope he will be able to lead Su Yin,” he said.
The world’s 28th ranked pair paired together since last year showed potential by surprising the world’s 15th pair from Taiwan, Yang Po-Hsuan-Hu Ling Fang in the second round of the 2024 Arctic Open in Vantaa, Finland with a result of 21-19, 21-12 .
