Car sales in China rise after a 5-month decline

With this rise, car sales in the world’s second-largest economy ended a five-month decline thanks to government support that encourages car replacement as part of a broader stimulus package.

Data from the Passenger Car Association showed China Sales recorded 2.13 million vehicles in September, up from 2.04 million a year ago.

The data also showed that sales in the first nine months of this year increased by 1.9 percent over 2023 levels.

Sales jumped Electric vehicles Hybrids accounted for 50.9 percent and accounted for 52.8 percent of total sales.

September marks the third consecutive month in which sales of battery-powered vehicles exceed those of their gasoline-powered counterparts in China.
