BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 13 OCT – A total of 5 companies and twenty-two (22) individuals were charged by the Licensing and Enforcement Division, Brunei and Muara District Department during separate operations that were conducted from 3 October to 12 October 2024 in several locations in Sengkurong Subdistrict, Kilanas Subdistrict and Pengkalan Batu Subdistrict.
According to the statement, Sarimbun Enterprise, Badan Tanmiah, Syarikat Hing Jaya Sdn Bhd and Gena Corporation Sdn Bhd were each subject to a compound offer amounting to $2,000 while Mack Berjaya Contractor was subject to a compound offer amounting to $6,000.
While three individuals were charged a compound offer amounting to $1,000 each and two individuals each amounting to $500 each and seventeen other individuals were charged $100 each.
All companies and individuals who are subject to compound offers for offenses in accordance with the Rampaian Offenses Act (Chapter 30). If you fail to pay the compound fine offer within 7 days, then further legal action will be taken under the Criminal Offenses Act, which if convicted can carry a penalty not exceeding $9,000 for an individual, while for a Company not exceeding $30,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 12 month or both.
The Department would also like to request the cooperation of the public to pass on any information about illegal dumping by including the address of the location along with photos via whatsapp message 8321581.
