13 foreigners were arrested in 3 Ops Kabat

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 13 OCT – A total of 13 foreigners were arrested in three sting operations conducted by the Law Enforcement Division, National Immigration and Registration Department (JIPK), recently.

According to a statement issued by JIPK, Operation Kabat 110/2024 conducted by JIPK Bandar Seri Begawan targeted a car workshop in Mukim Gadong B, where five foreigners were checked and three of them were arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

As a result of the inspection, two of the foreign nationals are believed to have committed an offense under Regulation 15(3), Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17, which is to work not according to the job position recorded in their work passport.

Meanwhile, another person failed to present any valid identification document and is believed to have committed an offense under Regulation 15(2), Immigration Regulation Chapter 17, i.e. working not with the original employer and Regulation 15(3), Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17.

While rental rooms and rental houses in Mukim Pengkalan Batu, Mukim Kilanas and Mukim Sengkurong A are also targeted locations during the Law Enforcement Division, Bandar Seri Begawan carrying out Operation Kabat 112/2024 where inspections are carried out on 25 foreigners. Seven of them have already been arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

As a result of the inspection, five of them are believed to have committed an offense under Chapter 15(1), Immigration Act, Chapter 17, i.e. overstaying after their immigration passes have expired and Regulation 15(2), Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17, i.e. Two individuals are believed to have committed an offense under Regulation 9(4), Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17, which is working by using a social visit pass.

Meanwhile, Operation Kabat 111/2024 was carried out by JIPK targeting the Garage Construction Project in Kuala Belait Subdistrict, where three foreigners were checked and then arrested and taken to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

As a result of the inspection, the first individual is believed to have committed an offense under Chapter 15 (1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17. The second individual is believed to have committed an offense under Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulation, Chapter 17 and the third individual is believed to have committed offenses under Regulation 9(4), Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17 and Chapter 15 (1) of the Immigration Act Chapter 17.
