Al-Rumaih pointed out some obstacles and impacts due to these disturbances, such as delays in the passage of ships through Suez Canal Which may extend to two weeks, which increases the cost and negatively affects the environment.
This came during a dialogue session entitled “The flexibility of logistics services in the face of turmoil in the Red Sea region,” within the sessions of the World Logistics Forum 2024 in the capital. Riyadh.
The participants in the session touched on the effects of the unrest in the Red Sea region, stressing that these crises are not limited to the Suez Canal, but rather affect global supply chains, causing noticeable delays in the arrival of goods to the ports, an increase in the use of fuel, and thus an increase in costs. and negative environmental impacts, drawing attention to the importance of the lessons learned from these disturbances, international cooperation to explore effective solutions, and plans to ensure the flexibility of logistical services to confront any disturbance that may affect global maritime trade lines in general.
