BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 13 OCT – So far, seven individuals aged 25 to 33 who are believed to be involved in drug trafficking activities have been successfully arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (BKN) during a follow-up operation that started on 17 August.
According to a statement issued by BKN, the arrest was a continuation of the Operation Speedos following the arrest of the main mastermind of the operation on August 9.
The follow-up operation confiscated 3.74 grams of syabu, drug abuse equipment, several mobile phones, several debit cards and a laptop computer believed to be used in drug trafficking activities.
The amount of drugs seized is not significant because individuals associated with this syndicate are known to be in a state of readiness for arrest and thus, do not keep drugs with them.
As a result of further investigation, apart from carrying out drug distribution activities in Brunei Darussalam, this syndicate also operates supplying and distributing drugs to students in this country who are studying in several educational institutions in neighboring countries.
One of the people arrested in the follow-up operation was a 24-year-old student who was studying at a university in a neighboring country. The suspect was arrested by BKN on September 18 because he was found to be involved in drug trafficking activities carried out by the syndicate in neighboring countries.
On this occasion, BKN would like to remind all citizens of this country, especially students abroad, to stay away from drug abuse and drug trafficking activities. BKN will not hesitate to take action against anyone involved in drug crimes regardless of status and position.
