Garbage truck gets tangled in a powerline; a horse gets loose on the road: Russell Township police blotter

RUSSELL TOWNSHIP, Ohio —

Assistance, West Willard Road:

Police and firefighters responded 3:09 p.m. Oct. 1 to help a garbage truck that got tangled in a powerline to a home. CEI also responded to remove the line from the truck and to make the repair. No injuries were reported.

Animal at large, Music Street:

Police responded 10:06 a.m. Sept. 25 to a report of a loose horse on the road. Officer found the owner and advised them of the call. The horse returned home soon after that.

Assistance, Fernwood Road:

While on patrol 2:36 a.m. Oct. 1 a resident notified an officer of a small fire in a neighborhood driveway. The officer found an unattended fire of construction material in a driveway near two homes under construction. The officer called firefighters to extinguish the fire.

Traffic stop, Kinsman Road:

Following a traffic stop, police arrested a driver 4:23 a.m. Sept. 22 for operating a vehicle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The driver will face Chardon Municipal Court.

Traffic hazard, Galloway Trail:

Dispatched shortly before 4 p.m. Oct. 1 for a report of mud and debris on the road caused by a construction company, an officer found some dried mud but not enough to obstruct the flow of traffic. The officer advised the company of the complaint. They said they try to keep up with cleaning and they make sure it is clean at the end of each day.
