Kolo Muani’s two goals beat Belgium

BRUSSELS, OCT 15 – Paris Saint-Germain’s Randal Kolo Muani scored twice as France again won without Kylian Mbappe yesterday to beat Belgium 2-1 away in the UEFA Nations League.

Kolo Muani’s opening goal from the penalty spot in the 35th minute at the King Baudouin Stadium was equalized by Lois Openda in first half stoppage time.

But Kolo Muani, who has had a difficult start to the season with his club, then headed in after an hour of play.

France, who saw Belgian Youri Tielemans miss an early penalty, stayed with 10 men after captain Aurelien Tchouameni was sent off late on.

“I’m happy for him,” coach Didier Deschamps told L’Equipe TV when asked about the contribution of Kolo Muani, who has never been a key player for PSG.

“Randal performed very well for us. He is full of confidence and the first game (against Israel) also did him a lot of good. He has that ability to help the attack and he is very good in the air.”

The result was France’s second win in as many games this international break, despite the absence of captain Mbappe, who was ruled out following a recent thigh injury. – AFP
