Tahfiz student died from electric shock

JERTIH, 16 OCT – A tahfiz student died after being electrocuted while holding a light bulb in the canteen of his madrasah dormitory last night.

Besut District Police Chief, Supt Abdul Rozak Muhammad said in the incident at 10.27 that night, Muhammad Fahim Rasyidi Shariful Hadi, 18, who is a student at Madrasah Tahfiz Al Quranil Hakim, Kampung Gong Penaga, Jabi, Terengganu was washing his hands at the dormitory canteen sink after finishing night drink

“While near the sink, the victim was holding a light bulb that was lit near the sink and suddenly the victim was electrocuted and collapsed at the scene.

“The incident is believed to have happened because the victim’s hands were wet when holding the light bulb and the weather was raining heavily,” he said in a statement today.

Abdul Rozak said the victim was then rushed to the Besut Hospital Emergency Unit by a teacher at the madrasah.

However, he said the victim, who was from Klang, Selangor, was confirmed dead while receiving treatment at 11.35 last night.
