Thursday’s letters: Alberta’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout disappoints

Article content

I was very disappointed in the lack of pharmacies participating in the online scheduling via the AHS website for this year’s vaccine rollout. Nonetheless, I booked for a pharmacy considerably out of my way as they advertised the ability to book for both flu and COVID-19 vaccines.

To my disappointment, after two reminders, when I showed up, they did not have the COVID-19 vaccine and could not bother to advance-notice me of this fact. Apparently, the bulk of the pharmacies did not receive their COVID-19 vaccine product.

Perhaps, the UCP could hire that delivery company that is bringing the “government mind-control spray” to the airlines (you know, those chemtrails) to deliver the vaccines to the pharmacies?

Somebody must fight emissions cap

In my 37-year career in energy, specifically electricity, oil and gas, I have had the pleasure of sharing real concerns as an Albertan and also am aware of the limitations and effects of cost from my family home base and food banks where I was both a volunteer and United Way director.

The latest plan in Ottawa to add what Trudeau refers to as a minimal cost adjustment in electrical production to minimize emissions when, in fact, every single move in our lives is affected by electrical cost in food growth, fertilization, processing and transportation. It’s notable that France, the U.K. and U.S. are not loading up consumers’ costs when many millions of people are already queuing at food banks. Somehow, this mean-spirited increase following carbon taxes in Canada is just another Trudeau-Guilbeault punitive attack at the West.

And no, this has nothing to do with any political leadership. Premier Smith is fighting for Alberta and all of us support her efforts. Somebody has to do it.

Alberta should ‘scrap the crap’

Just wondering, as a taxpayer, how much would a two-page ad (front page and second page) with artwork run me? And what if I wanted this ad to run in other cities across the country? I am thinking of a “scrap the crap” ad.

Smith holding doctors hostage

Danielle Smith has claimed that she will sign the new agreement with family doctors only when the contracts with other health-care workers are settled. This sounds like she is holding the family doctors hostage until other health-care professionals “pay up” by acceding to the government’s contract offer. Divide and conquer.

But it’s not just doctors who are being held hostage; it’s the 800,000 Albertans without a GP who must pay in the meantime with their deteriorating health.
