Cleveland Clinic Fairview hospital briefly placed on lockdown after West side shooting

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital was briefly placed on lockdown Thursday after two people were transported there following a shooting, authorities said.

At 2:15 a.m., Cleveland police responded to the 4500 block of West 174th Street after reports of a shooting. As police drove to the scene, a car arrived at the hospital carrying two gunshot victims.

One victim was an 18-year-old man, and the other was a 20-year-old woman, according to a statement from Cleveland police. The two are being treated for their injuries, but their conditions are unclear, police said.

A third person, a 21-year-old male, who was in the car with the gunshot victims, got out of the vehicle and tried to run away from the scene. Officers arrested the man, who was wanted on charges of aggravated robbery.

The hospital was briefly placed on lockdown, but that has since been lifted, according to WKYC Channel 3. Cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to the Cleveland Clinic for comment.
