KUCHING, 17 OCT – The United States (US) intends to strengthen cooperation with Sarawak, especially in the offshore gas and aerospace sectors.
The US ambassador to Malaysia, Edgard D. Kagan, said Sarawak has great potential and expertise in both sectors in addition to making significant progress in the renewable energy sector.
He said the matter was discussed with the Premier of Sarawak, Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, during his courtesy call on Abang Johari today.
“We are looking for ways to encourage US investment in Malaysia and considering Sarawak as a base. We also discussed various matters from offshore gas to aerospace,” he told reporters after the visit.
Kagan also praised Sarawak’s efforts in promoting the renewable energy agenda.
“I am always impressed by his (Abang Johari) expertise and commitment to find ways to expand clean energy production and benefit from Sarawak’s skills and capabilities in energy,” he added. – Named
