Two killed, others Injured in Lagos-Ibadan expressway crash

A fatal crash which reportedly happened on Wednesday, at about 8.05 pm around Ibafo village along the Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu expressway claimed two lives while two others were injured.

The accident involved a red colour Mercedes-Benz truck, with no registration number and a wine colour Mitsubishi space wagon with registration number AAB 255AE.

The Spokesperson for Ogun State Transport Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, disclosed this in a statement sent to journalists on Thursday.

Akinbiyi said the Mitsubishi space bus driver ran into the broken-down truck which was on the fast lane leading to the accident.

He said that the driver of the truck had however taken to his heels after the accident

The corpses of the victims were said to have been deposited at the Morgue of Idera Hospital, Sagamu.

Akinbiyi said, “The accident happened at 2005hrs (8.05 pm) on Wednesday. Both the injured and the dead victims are from the Mitsubishi space wagon.

“The driver of the truck that caused the accident ran away and left the truck on the road.

“While TRACE, FRSC and the police commiserate with the families of the crash victims, motorists are again urged to avoid night travels and also avoid excessive speed, in view of its attendant challenges.”
