Burning furniture in backyard fire pit sparks investigation and review by village fire chief: Chagrin Falls police blotter

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio –

Open burn, Miles Road:

Police responded to a 9:59 p.m. Oct. 9 report of a fire at the rear of a residence. Officers found a fire burning in a firepit about 15 feet from the home. The firepit contained furniture including a dresser, a chair and a beanbag chair. Responding firefighters also found residue of burnt insulation in the firepit. The investigation will be forwarded to the Chagrin Falls fire chief and the village prosecutor for review.

Animal complaint, East Washington Street:

A man reported 8:39 p.m. Oct. 3 that while he was walking his dog another dog, also being walked, attacked and injured his dog. The injury was to one of the dog’s ears.

Harassment, North Main Street:

On Oct. 7 a 33-year-old woman who lives in a neighboring community reported she is being harassed while in town repeatedly by another woman. Police are investigating the complaint.

Threats, Bell Street:

Police are investigating an Oct. 9 report filed by a Chagrin Falls woman, 63. She reported she is being threatened by an out-of-state family member.

Assistance, North Main Street:

Police and EMS responded to a home 6:58 a.m. Oct. 9 where a family member found an 89-year-old man unresponsive. He was pronounced deceased. The man was under hospice care.
