MMN members visit interesting locations in Tutong District

TUTONG, 17 OCT – A delegation of members of the National Assembly (MMN) today visited several tourist locations in Tutong District as an extension of the first series of visits held on 9 October.

According to the statement, the visit is the second in a series of visits that aims to convey the mission to elevate Brunei Darussalam as a major tourist destination that preserves cultural and natural heritage, in line with the principles of sustainability, while also culturalizing the tourism sector that contributes significantly to the country’s socioeconomic development. .

Also participating in the visit was the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (KSSUP), Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, deputy permanent secretaries and senior officials from KSSUP.

The first location of the tour is the Pasaraneka and Tamu Tutong Complex, better known as Tamu Tutong, where there are various items such as fruits, fresh vegetables, flowers and village crops for sale.

The guest, which is only held every Thursday and opens as early as 5 am, also has a food stall area that the public can visit at any time.

In addition, the complex also has a special room for Weekly Guests of One Village One Product (1K1P).

The group then crossed the Tutong Town Jetty where a briefing was given on the Tourism Development Department’s plans under the 12th National Development Plan to upgrade the jetty.

The next location is Gerai Muafakat which was built based on the consensus of the Kiudang Mungkom Village Consultation Council to encourage the village community to do business.

With the construction of the Gerai Muafakat building, it provides facilities for the village community to sell their products such as food, handicrafts, garden produce and others. The group also had the opportunity to witness the uniqueness of the Dusun culture.

The tour continues to Wasai Bedanu which is a hiking spot and a location for nature lovers to explore various species, including loons and various exotic birds such as blue-eared barbet, bornean brown barbet and red-eyed nightingale.

Several visits continued including to the Eco Ponies Garden where MMN members had the opportunity to have leisure activities and visit the facilities available at the location, the visit continued to the 7 Nayan Family Rumpun (7RKN) which offered a machete making demonstration and displayed the cultural heritage of the Kedayan tribe in the District Tutong, a visit to Bintudoh Greenspring Resort which is a camping destination that offers ecotourism activities such as fishing, kayaking and zipline.

During the fruit season, this 15-acre resort produces a lot of durian, pineapple, rambutan, kembayau and many other local fruits that can be enjoyed by visitors.

And lastly, a visit to Angkasa Oud Agarwood Company which is a local business that specializes in the production and manufacture of high quality agarwood products.

Agarwood is a high-value resin wood and is known for its unique aroma that combines the aroma of wood with a soft fragrance. Since this company was established it has produced agarwood oil essence and as many as 20 types of fragrances.
