BEIRUT, OCT 18 – The death toll from Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon since the start of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict on October 8 has reached 2,412 and the number of injured individuals has risen to 11,285, according to a report by the Lebanese Council of Ministers yesterday.
Meanwhile, the death toll from Israeli airstrikes in different areas of Lebanon on October 16 reached 45 while 179 were injured, the report added.
The report said that in the past 24 hours, 96 airstrikes and ground attacks were recorded in various areas of Lebanon, bringing the total number of attacks to 10,246 since Israel began its ‘invasion’.
According to the report, about a third of the Lebanese people have become refugees and are exposed to the risk of the epidemic spreading among the refugees.
The National Committee for Coordination of Crisis Response Operations is working with relevant ministries to secure additional shelters in various areas to receive refugees, he added.
The Israeli army has launched an intensive offensive against Lebanon since late September in a war of resistance with Hezbollah, raising fears of a wider war as the conflict between Hamas and Israel continues in the Gaza Strip. – Xinhua
