Frank is confident that Ten Hag is still a quality coach

LONDON, OCT 18 – Brentford manager Thomas Frank insists that Erik ten Hag has received too much criticism as Manchester United prepare to face more pressure this weekend.

The Ten Hag are now in dire straits after United suffered their worst start to a top-flight season since 1989-90. Frank’s side travel to Old Trafford on Saturday, with Brentford three places above United, who currently sit in 14th place, having recorded just two wins from their opening seven league games.

Defeat to Brentford is likely to bring Ten Hag closer to the sack, but Frank is adamant that the Dutch manager does not deserve such harsh criticism.

“It’s amazing how much criticism he had to face,” said Frank. “As a head coach, I understand what it’s like to be in a situation like this. In my view, the criticism received is excessive.”

“Ten Hag is clearly a quality coach. He has won two trophies in two seasons with United. But I understand the reality: if the team wins, the coach is adored as extraordinary; if the team loses, the coach is fully blamed. But, actually the truth lies between the two views,” added Frank.

“It’s not just about the head coach, but also a combination of factors such as players, supporters, and club management,” he added. – AFP
