CLEVELAND, Ohio — Medicare’s annual enrollment period — the season when older adults are flooded with ads and flyers about various Medicare plans — is here, and seniors have lots of questions.

The upcoming free webinar, “Guide to Medicare and Golden Retirement,” presented by The Plain Dealer and cleveland.com, will offer answers and insights from Medicare experts who will take audience questions.

“Guide to Medicare and Golden Retirement” webinar, sponsored by Medical Mutual, takes place virtually on Zoom starting at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. This will allow participants time to gather information well ahead of the end of open enrollment on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Registration is required, and is open right up until the webinar begins.

This year’s event will cover topics such as 2025 Medicare enrollment options, what’s new for 2025, what to consider when choosing a drug plan, and more.

Audience members will be able to ask questions to help determine the Medicare plan that’s right for them.

Speakers include Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program director Christina Reeg, Medical Mutual account manager Amanda McFarland and Medical Mutual director of pharmacy Medicare and information services Katie Goff.

Moderator is Plain Dealer and cleveland.com healthcare reporter Julie Washington.

Every year, Medicare health and drug plans can make changes to things like cost, coverage, and what providers and pharmacies are in their networks. The open enrollment period is when all Medicare recipients can change their Medicare health plans and prescription drug coverage for the following year to better meet their needs.

Medicare’s 2025 plan information is available at medicare.gov.

OSHIIP is also sponsoring statewide virtual and in-person Medicare Checkup events. Find the events schedule, search by county, and register for events at insurance.ohio.gov.
