Multiple agencies assist in standoff with Highland Heights man

Multiple agencies assist in standoff with Highland Heights man

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — A woman reported at 8:14 p.m. Oct. 11 that her boyfriend called and told her he was going to shoot himself and if officers came to his home, he would go out in a “blaze of glory and take out as many as he could.”

Responding officers from multiple agencies set up a perimeter around the man’s home on Radford Road after he told the woman that he was bunkered inside a bedroom.

They learned that the man’s mother was the homeowner and inside with the suspect. She was eventually let out of the home and officers cautiously entered and took the man, 45, into custody without incident. He was subsequently transported to Hillcrest Hospital for a mental health evaluation.
