BELAIT, OCT 20 – The Belait Rotary Club (RCB) organized the annual End Polio Now walkathon today at Taman Kuala Belait, Jalan Sungai, Kuala Belait, in commemoration of World Polio Day.
World Polio Day, which is celebrated on October 24 every year, aims to raise global awareness of the efforts to eradicate poliomyelitis (polio) worldwide, while emphasizing the importance of polio vaccination to protect every child from the devastating disease. It is also an appreciation to parents, professionals and volunteers who have contributed a lot to the success of polio eradication efforts.
RCB President, Patricia Bong, presided over the event where he and the participants including RCB members and members of the public participated in the event.
Other activities that were also held included a zumba session conducted by Nem Fitness as well as a health examination by the Rayyan Baharin Clinic, led by Dr Haji Muhammad Shukri bin Haji Said along with two clinic staff.
