GAZA PENINSULA, OCT 20 – Gaza’s civil defense agency said yesterday that a massive Israeli military operation has killed more than 400 people in two weeks in the north of the territory, where Israel continues to attack targets while fighting Hezbollah fighters in Lebanon.
Hamas-allied Hezbollah fighters have vowed to step up attacks on Israel weeks after a major war broke out on September 23, launching a rocket attack yesterday in northern Israel, where rescuers reported one man was killed by shrapnel.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, a drone attack from Lebanon targeted his residence in the coastal city of Caesarea, but his family was not there at the time and no injuries were reported.
The latest attack comes as fighters from Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran-backed allied groups in the region vowed to continue fighting after Israeli forces killed the head of the Palestinian movement, Yahya Sinwar in Gaza, more than a year into the war sparked by a Hamas attack on October 7, 2023. – AFP
