Israel continues to deny humanitarian aid access to Gaza

HAMILTON, OCT 22 – The United Nations (UN) reported yesterday that Israeli authorities continued to deny requests to access the Falouja area in Jabalya, northern Gaza for the fourth day in a row, leaving residents trapped under the rubble unable to receive aid, reported Agency Anatolia.

Citing the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), UN Deputy Spokesperson, Farhan Haq said the request to send food, medicine and fuel needed to move water facilities in Jabalya was also denied by Israel.

“The fuel needed to run the clean water supply system has run out, and residents are forced to risk their lives to get drinking water or drink water from unsafe sources,” said Haq.

He also warned that “hardly any humanitarian aid is reaching the Jabalya refugee camp,” and communications in the area are severely disrupted, making it difficult for civilians to get help as Israeli airstrikes and bombardments continue in northern Gaza.

“From October 6 to yesterday, OCHA reported that 28 requests for coordinated humanitarian aid movements to Jabalya, Beit Hanoun, and Beit Lahia—all in the Northern Gaza Strip—were denied by Israeli authorities, while another seven faced obstacles,” he said.

Only four of the 66 planned humanitarian missions through Israeli checkpoints from south to north Gaza were successfully carried out in the first 20 days of October.

Last week, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Watch reported that Israel’s ban on the entry of aid has left 200,000 residents of northern Gaza without food and drinking water.

The Israeli army continues to launch a massive offensive that is now entering its 17th day in northern Gaza, while imposing a strict siege on the area.

This attack is an extension of Israel’s brutal actions that killed more than 42,600 people, mostly women and children, and injured more than 99,800 people since October 7 last year.

The war has left almost the entire population of Gaza homeless, while the ongoing blockade has led to increasingly critical shortages of food, clean water, and medicine.

Israel is also facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its military actions in Gaza. – Named
