Master developer Nakheel has partnered with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) to develop two high-capacity power substations for Palm Jebel Ali, valued at Dhs270m.

The substations are expected to provide critical power support for this pioneering waterfront development and will coincide with the handover of Nakheel’s luxury villas.

The project involves the construction of two 132/11 KV substations, with a combined capacity of 400 megavolt amperes (MVA), which will supply power across much of Palm Jebel Ali, including several key areas like the fronds and central spine.

DEWA will oversee the project’s tendering, awarding, and construction phases.

Palm Jebel Ali plays a key role in the D33 agenda

Palm Jebel Ali plays a pivotal role in supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda D33. It is designed to establish a new growth corridor in the Jebel Ali area and contribute to Dubai’s long-term urban and economic expansion, aligning with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.

“We are confident that DEWA’s expertise will ensure a robust foundation as Palm Jebel Ali takes shape,” commented Nasser Al Awadhi, chief land estates officer of Dubai Holding. “This project is emblematic of Dubai’s forward-looking ambition to create extraordinary luxury waterfront living for the modern global citizen.”

Palm Jebel Ali, spanning over 13.4 kilometres and featuring 16 fronds, is set to introduce more than 90 kilometres of pristine beachfront.

The community’s master plan emphasises sustainability, walkability, and the latest in smart city technologies. Residents will benefit from a range of mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly neighbourhoods and recreational spaces designed to cater to a variety of lifestyles and interests.

DEWA’s EVP of Transmission Power, Hussain Lootah, underscored the strategic partnership’s role in making Dubai a world leader in infrastructure standards. “This collaboration is a crucial step in ensuring the reliability and resilience of Dubai’s power transmission, reinforcing DEWA’s commitment to maintaining 100 per cent reliability and positioning us as a global leader in power infrastructure,” he stated.
