BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, OCT 29 – A 36-year-old permanent resident was fined $153,800 today after pleading guilty to possessing contraband cigarettes.
Mohammad Aiman ​​​​Putera bin Abdullah Laju @ Kersmandey will have to serve 23 months in prison if he fails to pay the fine.
According to the customs prosecutor, Mohammad Aiman ​​​​Putera was arrested at the Kuala Lurah Control Post on March 26, 2023, at 6:40 am.
Officers from the customs control post made the arrest after finding 209 cartons and 19 different types of cigarettes found in the defendant’s possession.
Magistrate Muhd ​​Muzakkir bin Haji Zakaria ordered the seized items to be forfeited to the government for destruction.
