NFL veteran quarterback involved in crash while driving with family

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina — Carolina Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton and his family were not seriously injured Tuesday when they were involved in car crash Tuesday in Charlotte, reports say.

Police tell the Charlotte Observer that Dalton was driving with his three children — two sons, Nash and Noah, and a daughter, Finley — and the family’s dog when the crash occurred. No one from the family needed medical assistance.

No details have been reported on what caused the crash.

NBC Sports reports the team’s doctors are evaluating Dalton. Tuesday is the team’s off day and players will return to practice Wednesday.

Dalton, 36, is a 14-year veteran of the NFL, having played his first nine seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals. He also has played for the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints and the Panthers. He has started the past five games for Carolina and is slated to start Sunday against the Denver Broncos.

In his career he has completed 62.6% of his passes for 39,500 yards, 253 touchdowns and 150 interceptions. His record as a starter is 84-82-2.
