WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The El Dorado Correctional Facility said an inmate died on Tuesday.
A news release said Brooks Vonthaer, 40, was found unresponsive in his cell. The cause of death is pending the results of an independent autopsy.
The investigation into Vonthaer’s death is ongoing by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, which is protocol when an inmate dies.
Vonthaer was serving a 62-month sentence for four convictions of aggravated assault, criminal trespass, theft, and criminal damage in Shawnee County.
