Eminem voices support for Harris and Obama raps during Detroit rally

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – Detroit rapper Eminem showed his support for Vice President Kamala Harris at a rally with former President Barack Obama in Detroit, Michigan on Tuesday night.

Eminem encouraged people to get out and vote and highlighted the importance of voting especially in the swing state of Michigan.

“Going into this election, the spotlight is on us more than ever, and I think it’s important to use your voice. So, I’m encouraging everybody to get out and vote please,” Eminem said.

During brief remarks, before introducing Obama, the rapper said people “shouldn’t be afraid to express their opinions” and voiced his support for Harris.

“I don’t think anyone wants an America where people are worried about retribution or what people will do if you make your opinion known,” Eminem said. “I think Vice President Harris supports a future for this country where these freedoms and many others will be protected and upheld.”

Former President Obama expressed his love for Eminem and even rapped several lines from Eminem’s hit song “Lose Yourself.”

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and former Lions wide receiver and NFL Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson were also in attendance.

The star-studded rally comes just days before early voting kicks off across Michigan.

Former President Donald Trump held a rally in Detroit last week, where he was joined on stage by Detroit rapper Trick Trick.

Michigan is one of several swing states expected to determine who wins the presidency as well as control of the U.S. Senate.
