Akron-Canton Regional Airport gets millions from feds to improve facility

WASHINGTON, D. C. – Akron-Canton Regional Airport is getting $3.6 million in Federal Aviation Administration grants that will be used to replace four baggage carousels in the airport terminal’s baggage claim area, and to replace and install two passenger boarding bridges.

“Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state,” said U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, a Cleveland Democrat, in a statement this week announcing the funding. “These investments will enhance operations at Akron-Canton Regional Airport and improve travel for Ohioans.”

Brown said the FAA airport terminal improvement funds came from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that he supported.

Last month, Akron-Canton Regional Airport got $1,149,035 from the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program to reconstruct the lighting on a runway that has reached the end of its useful life.
