BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 23 OCT – A total of 16 units of measuring and weighing tools for trade purposes that were inspected were valid, accurate and registered with the Measuring and Measuring Unit (SDT) in accordance with the Measuring and Measuring Act 1983, Chapter 151 and the Regulations (Research) Weighing and Measuring Instruments 1994 Section 3 (1) and (2).

Meanwhile, a warning notice has been issued to a business premises for violating the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 and the Regulations thereunder where the company failed to display price tags on some items sold in the business premises.

The findings are the result of a sudden integrated operation on five business premises by the Industry and Business Ecosystem Division (IBE) through the SDT Unit and the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (JPES) through the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, in the District Brunei and Muara last October 17.

The company has been reminded of the importance of displaying price tags clearly and correctly to enable consumers to make informed purchasing decisions.

In addition, JPES also emphasized the need to comply with the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 in helping to create a proper business environment.

Accordingly, the users of measuring and weighing tools are advised to ensure that the measuring and weighing tools used during buying and selling activities involving the reading of weight, volume, length and width, have a registration sticker containing the valid period of use issued by SDT Unit.

In addition, traders are also advised to always be aware and update the maximum price for goods that are price controlled under the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 by, among other things, checking the latest prices in the Smart User mobile application.

In addition, always display the price tag clearly and correctly on the goods sold on the business premises.
