61 plots participated in the Brunei Construction Expo

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 30 OCT – A total of 61 plots have participated in the Brunei Construction Expo 2024 organized by the Building and Construction Industry Control Authority (ABCI), Ministry of Development at Dewan Munawwarah, Level 7, Setia Point Building, Kampung Jaya Setia, Mukim Berakas, today.

Earlier, the opening of the expo at Dewan Mawaddah, Floor 7 was completed by the Minister of Development, the Honorable Dato Seri Setia Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid as the guest of honour.

Also present at the ceremony were Deputy Permanent Secretary (Construction Industry and Development), Ministry of Development, Sr. Hajah Norhayati binti Haji Mohd Yakub; Acting Director General of Public Works, Haji Shaharuddin Khairul bin Haji Anuar; heads of departments, senior officers, officers and staff of the Ministry of Development and departments under it as well as sponsors.

The ceremony started with a welcome speech from the Acting Permanent Secretary (Planning, Land Use and Environment), Ministry of Development, Dayang Aldila binti Haji Mohammad Salleh who, among other things, shared about the publication of the Strategic Plan Book of the Ministry of Development 2024-2029 which is one of the achievements of the ministry in providing direction for the next five years to ensure the country’s development continues to progress and be competitive.

He also touched on the theme of Brunei Construction Expo 2024 Build Brunei Better that aims to provide a platform for collaboration in enhancing the dissemination of information on services, regulations, the latest guidelines and good practices.

The expo gave the public the opportunity to interact directly with the exhibitors to get more information about their products and services, and hopefully to attract the interest of local children to pursue a career in the construction industry.

The opening ceremony of the expo was also continued with the presentation of the Excellent Construction Industry Award (ACIP).

The award was introduced as recognition to contractor companies registered under the Ministry of Development that have successfully completed construction projects with excellent performance and quality in line with the Ministry of Development’s Strategic Planning Plan 2018-2023 which is in an effort to support the development of local businesses in the construction industry in this country.

The ceremony continued with Yang Berhormat Dato signing the plaque for the launch of the expo and visiting the exhibition stands attended by interested government departments such as the Department of Energy, Department of Electrical Services, Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, Department of Housing Development and the private sector who consisting of companies such as builders, architects, real estate agents and others.

The expo is open for four days until this Saturday.
