Science Fiction Double Feature: Whatever you’re up to this warmer weekend and next, there’s a solid chance you’ll be doing it in costume. If you’re short on easy ideas Friday, SWEAT’s Rocky Horror/sci-fi-themed Halloween party is a perfectly sensual fit.
Set in one of Edmonton’s most enticing architectural spaces right in the core, this multilevel dance party will showcase 13 SWEAT DJ sets energizing three themed spaces — including one dubbed Planet Transexual Stage.

It’s the official tie-in party with Grindstone’s Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horror Show — running through Nov. 3 (see the review here) — where your chances of mingling with some of the actors and crew are deliciously high.
Featuring dancers, a cash-prize costume contest, interactive art displays, and live visual performances, you also get $10 off paired with tickets to the musical.

Convergence: Good Women Dance Collective’s celebratory 15th annual showcase of ambitious new works features Rodeo, choreographed by Alison Kause and Alida Kendall, and FACE2FACE by Marynia Fekecz-Mangan.
Time warps, legs fly, and skin meets the floor in Rodeo, with dramaturgy by Lin Snelling and original sound composition by Jordan Pelz.
Meanwhile, dancers Kate Stashko and Krista Lin interact with their previously recorded selves in the innovative FACE2FACE video by erψn temp3st.
There is ASL interpretation for the Saturday night show.

The Last Video Store (2023): In this locally produced, meta-horror love letter to the bygone video-store era, Nyla (Yaayaa Adams) unknowingly possesses a cursed tape that unleashes a series of classic cinematic villains in co-star Kevin Martin’s The Lobby DVD Shop on Whyte Avenue.
