KAZAN, OCT 25 – The BRICS group, comprising the world’s fastest growing economies, does not operate in a closed format and remains open to all countries that share values, Russian President Vladimir Putin said yesterday, reported Sputnik.
“We confirmed in Kazan that BRICS is not a closed format. It is open to all who share BRICS values and whose members are ready to work together to find common solutions without external pressure or attempts to impose a narrow approach on anyone,” Putin said in a press conference after the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia.
Russia takes on the responsibility of chairing BRICS with full dedication, Putin added.
“The 16th BRICS Summit has just been successfully concluded. It is the culmination of Russia’s chairmanship of the association and one of the most important events in the global political calendar. I have said more than once that Russia assumes the task of BRICS chairmanship with full responsibility, more than 200 events have been held in 13 Russian cities,” Putin said in a press conference after the BRICS summit.
Russia has done everything possible to ensure that new BRICS members can smoothly integrate into the association family, Putin added.
“I can say with satisfaction that all new participants are actively involved in the work forum, presenting useful and potential ideas and initiatives. As for the summit in Kazan itself, delegations from 35 countries and 6 international organizations participated, as you already know,” said Putin.
The BRICS summit participants discussed key international issues with a focus on the situation in the Middle East, he added.
“We exchanged views on major international issues with a focus on the worsening situation in the Middle East. We also see the prospect of interaction between BRICS members, countries of the global South and East for sustainable development.” – Named
