CLEVELAND, Ohio – Cookies for the holidays? Bring ‘em on! With the holidays right around the corner, we are seeking our readers’ recommendations to the best local spots in town to snag some.
Do you have a staple holiday cookie that you must indulge in? One you love to bring your family or share at a work holiday party? Is there a local bakery that you run to purchase these delicious favorites from?
We love a good cookie (or five) and want to hear all about it.
Not all of us are expert bakers. For those of you who are, cranking out dozens of must-have, bite-sized treats might not fit into your busy schedule. For that reason, we count on go-to bakeries to help us make the holidays merry and bright… and, let’s be real, to make us look good as we walk in the door.
Some folks are blessed with bakers in their own family (mom, nana, other family members) but this little contest isn’t about them They’ll always be #1 in your heart anyway. No, this call is for go-to spots to get cookies.
You have been sending in the names of your favorite bakeries and why you love them, and we thank you for it. But we know there are many more nominations to be sent in. So take a few minutes to nominate them now. Don’t leave your favorite spot out of our contest.
We will be taking the ones with the most nominations and let you narrow down the list to the best of the best. We will then create a readers’ poll where the top 10 spots will compete for the title of “The Best.”
There’s even more. The top three bakeries (as chosen and voted on by you) will receive a visit from your “Best of Cleveland” team of Yadi Rodriguez and Peter Chakerian. They’ll profile the top three spots, interview their owners and bakers, and get to the bottom of what makes them so, well, sweet.

We know that you may be excited to let us know where the best bakeries are in your opinion, but don’t get it frosted. Please note that only one nomination per person will be counted, so there’s no need to send in multiple nominations.
You will have until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Please keep nominations to local establishments (yes, that includes local microchains) but please steer clear of national chains like Crumble… no matter how much you love them or how good those cookies may be.
We’ll keep track of all your recommendations and create a poll, giving you the chance to vote for those go-to spots where we can get the best holiday cookies in all of Greater Cleveland.
And, of course, once all votes are accounted for the “Best of Cleveland” team will hit the road to taste-test your selections and bring you the stories behind the most-voted-for establishments.
Remember that any nominated spots need to be found within our seven-county coverage area (Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Portage or Summit).
