The Israeli army told Agence France-Presse that it was “in the process of verifying” the reports.

The representative of the Health Organization in the Palestinian Territories, Rick Pepperkorn, spoke of the “chaos” prevailing in the hospital during a visit he made this week.
He said from Gaza during a press conference in Geneva that “emergency services (Thursday evening) were full, and we saw many patients arriving with terrible wounds,” while hundreds had taken refuge in “every corner” of the hospital.
Pepperkorn added that at an Israeli army checkpoint near Kamal Adwan Hospital, he saw “thousands of women and children leaving the area, walking with their remaining belongings” towards Gaza City in the south.
He continued: “We saw a small number of men and boys, and the men were being searched.”
