Our Saturday morning is starting off with clear skies, light winds and chilly temperatures statewide in the 30s and 40s.
The quiet and cooler, more Fall-like weather is thanks to Canadian high pressure centered over the Upper Midwest providing a cool easterly flow of air into the Central Plains.
A return southwesterly flow will bring warming to the Western states and this warming will work its way east into the Plains starting Sunday afternoon. Highs this Saturday afternoon will be near-to-slightly above average with abundant sunshine and a light breeze.
With clear skies and just a light breeze tonight, temperatures will cool efficiently by early Sunday morning, into the 30s and lower 40s.
Southerly winds will begin to bring warming back to the Sunflower State on Sunday with afternoon high temperatures well into the 70s and a south wind picking up a bit.
Strong, gusty southerly winds and unusually warm temperatures will overspread the Central Plains on Monday and Tuesday bring a heightened threat for grassland fires.
Welcome showers and a few storms will track across Kansas from late Tuesday into Wednesday thanks to another cold front crossing the Central Plains.
Temperatures will be noticeably cooler again behind the midweek cold front with our next chance for rain arriving later Friday into the first weekend of November.
