Over the course of its two days, the World Summit of Religious Leaders and Symbols will discuss a number of important topics, including the viewpoint of religions and religious leaders on the international problem of climate change, and the role of social media and religions in protecting the environment. Ways to build confidence through interfaith dialogue, in addition to the negative impact of terrorism, religious and ethnic intolerance, incitement to hatred, and wars on the environment, peaceful people, and nature.

The Secretary-General of the Council confirmed Muslim sages Muhammad Abdel Salam said, “The Interfaith Summit, which will be held on November 5 and 6 in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, embodies the continued commitment of the Council of Muslim Elders to strengthening dialogue between religions and civilizations in order to build a more understanding, harmonious and sustainable world.”

He pointed out “the importance of the role that leaders and symbols of religions can play in confronting global challenges, foremost among which is the issue of climate change,” praising the prominent role played by the Republic of Azerbaijan, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, in promoting dialogue between religions and cultures, and launching many important initiatives that It contributed to creating a society that values ​​peaceful coexistence, tolerance and mutual dialogue, and inspired the world with a pioneering and exemplary experience in promoting understanding and peace among peoples.”

He added: “The year 2024 has been declared in Azerbaijan as the Year of Solidarity for Green Peace, and it is a call that supports the Call of Conscience document, the Abu Dhabi Joint Statement for Climate, which was launched last year as one of the outcomes of the World Summit of Religious Leaders and Symbols for Climate, which was hosted by the Emirati capital.” Abu Dhabi, noting that this solidarity aims to encourage the human family to live in harmony with nature and work together to protect our world from climate change, expressing his hope that this summit will be an additional step towards enhancing global awareness of climate issues.

He expressed his hope that the World Summit of Religious Leaders and Symbols for Climate in Azerbaijan will contribute to building on the success achieved by the World Summit of Religious Leaders and Symbols for Climate Change in Azerbaijan. The summit culminated in the issuance of the “Call of Conscience: Abu Dhabi Joint Statement for Climate” document, which called for the need to take effective and tangible measures to confront the climate crisis and preserve the planet.
