COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State football will have defensive tackle Tyleik Williams available for Saturday’s contest at Michigan State.
The former All-Big Ten selection missed last week’s 49-14 win against Marshall due to an undisclosed injury.
However, Williams practiced this week, coach Ryan Day told reporters Wednesday.
Ohio State felt Williams’ absence in the week he was sidelined. After allowing only six points across their first two games, the Buckeyes allowed a pair of touchdowns against the Thunder Herd.
The defense recorded only one sack and allowed 125 rushing yards. Marshall got 203 of its 264 yards in the first half.
On Tuesday, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles praised Tywone Malone for the part he played in filling Williams’ void. However, he had little to say about others who stepped in.
The collection of reserves includes Kayden McDonald, Hero Kanu, Jason Moore and Will Smith Jr.
Williams has nine tackles, including two for loss, and 1.5 sacks this season.
