KUALA LUMPUR – The season that is looked forward to by Chinese people all over the world, the Mid-Autumn Festival will soon be celebrated.

Yummy mooncakes bring back memories but as always, there is only a limited time to enjoy them.

With the Mid-Autumn Festival just around the corner, there’s a wide selection of mooncakes alongside traditional favorites with new flavors making the season all sweet.

A restaurant in a hotel in Kuala Lumpur has offered a Mid-Autumn themed afternoon tea featuring moon cake-inspired desserts along with a variety of Malaysian-style snacks.

Inspired by the popular mooncakes, pastry chefs cleverly incorporate lotus as a filling consisting of a mixture of praline nuts in the pastry as well as crunchy chocolate in the sweet mochi confection to resemble various types of snow skin.

BUTTER MIXED PEANUT TART

The aroma of caramelized eggs with a crunchy tart and a combination of textures enriched with nuts present an interesting combination of flavors where it is able to arouse the desire to try.

While the bitter taste can be felt when enjoying the chocolate mochi, but it is also balanced by the sweetness.

The nutty taste of watermelon seeds in the mochi mixture adds to its unique texture.

The oval-shaped orange praline has a fine white lotus paste inside to give it a new taste.

Other mouth-watering dishes at the restaurant are jackfruit cupcakes, steamed fruit cakes, creamy green tea sable and pandan choux.

For lovers of delicious dishes, Malaysia’s favorite percik satay, chicken rendang sandwiches and rolls sardine paratha is also offered at the restaurant.

Served in a transparent cup, the slightly spicy and sour sprinkled sauce is very delicious paired with the tender chicken satay.

The chicken rendang sandwich features food enriched with coconut milk.

The spiced chicken rendang cut into cubes looks really appetizing with fluffy white bread. Along with paratha rolls, it is sure to be a hit due to its delicious combination of flavors.

The restaurant also serves roti canai stuffed with tasty sardines and rolled to prevent the sardine filling from coming out of the roti.

For those who want a dish with more carbohydrates, nasi lemak wraps and roti sambal bilis are among the local favorites.

Visitors can choose to enjoy what’s up (jasmine) with the meal, but those in a festive mood can make choices Mid-Autumn Breeze which offers tea cocktails.

At this time, the Moonlit Melody music box found in the hotel has started to be sold where it consists of four flavored moon cakes which are white lotus with egg yolk, Pearl of Prosperity (pandan lotus and mung bean paste), chocolate and mixed nuts and cream and cookies.

Customers can play music or connect the music box to their electronic devices through bluetooth to include in their own music playlist.

The hotel’s director of sales and marketing, Denise Mah, said the design of the box would make shoppers reminisce about the past.
