A new method for energy storage

Last year, more solar and wind power plants were put into operation in Germany than ever before: almost twice as much capacity was added as in the previous year. But what to do with all this energy? How can it be stored for times when there is no sun or wind? A research team from the Leibniz Institute for Catalysis in Rostock has now published a study in the journal “Nature Communications“ presented a solution in which an inconspicuous everyday substance plays a role: baking powder.
