AIPA remains relevant in realizing ASEAN’s goals

VIENTIANE, 11 OCT – The 13th ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Face-to-Face Meeting in conjunction with the 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits was held at the National Convention Center (NCC), Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, recently.

The meeting was represented by a member of the National Assembly (MMN), Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Dato Seri Setia Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Ibrahim.

The ASEAN-AIPA Leaders’ Face-to-Face Meeting is an annual event at the highest level to establish relationships, interactions and consultations to strengthen cohesion and close cooperation between the heads of government of ASEAN member countries and the parliaments of member countries of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

Earlier, a Preparatory Meeting for the ASEAN-AIPA Face-to-Face Meeting was already held between the heads of delegations of AIPA member countries, where representatives of Brunei Darussalam had the opportunity to share some inputs to the AIPA Message.

As a result of the meeting, the AIPA Message has already been considered and unanimously agreed upon.

During the meeting, the President of the National Assembly of Laos PDR as the 45th President of AIPA delivered the AIPA Message in front of the heads of government of ASEAN member countries and the heads of delegations of AIPA member countries.

AIPA’s message was welcomed by several heads of government of ASEAN member countries who, on the whole, have taken good care of the efforts that have been implemented by AIPA and believe that AIPA’s role will remain relevant in realizing ASEAN’s goals.
