Before moving from ratiopharm Ulm to Alba Berlin, Trevion Williams also looked to Luke Sikma. Sikma played in Berlin for six years until 2023 and had a significant influence on the game of the eleven-time basketball champions. “I looked at a lot of what he did before making my decision. And I saw a lot of similarities between him and me. That certainly helped with my decision,” said the American.

Williams had already watched Alba closely last season. “They are one of the toughest teams in the league,” he said. The 23-year-old believes he can play a similar role to Sikma. “Above all, I can give the team a lot of energy. I may not be the most athletic guy when it comes to jumping, but I have good anticipation. That helps me a lot,” he said.

Berlin feels like home

The 2.06 meter tall Williams actually plays as a power forward, but also played as a center in Ulm. He could now take on this role at Alba. Coach Israel Gonzalez is therefore aware that he will “certainly need some time” until he has found his role.

At least settling into the capital has been easy for the American, who comes from Chicago. “I’ve been very well received here. The guys showed me everything,” he reported. Williams quickly fell in love with Berlin. “The city is big and really beautiful. It was a big jump from Ulm to Berlin. I come from a big city, so this definitely feels more like home,” he said.
