JEMPOL, 17 OCT – An 85-year-old senior citizen riding an electric bicycle, died after being involved in an accident involving a car at Kilometer 5 Jalan Bahau-Kemayan, Jempol, Negeri Sembilan yesterday.
Jempol District Police Chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the incident at about 5.50pm is believed to have happened when a 55-year-old woman was said to be on her way from Bahau to Ladang Gaddes to return home.
“When he arrived at the scene of the incident, suddenly an electric bicycle ridden by an elderly man came from the left in front of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bahau 2, about to cross to the right of the road to Taman Sri Mahsan.
“Following that, it is believed that there was a violation on the right side of the electric bicycle on the main car path,” he said in a statement here today.
Hoo said as a result of the accident, the electric bicycle rider died at the scene, having sustained severe injuries to the head and face.
He said the case was investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 which is causing death due to reckless or dangerous driving. – Named
