Argument over sexually transmitted disease leads to woman getting punched in head: Cleveland Heights police blotter

Argument over sexually transmitted disease leads to woman getting punched in head: Cleveland Heights police blotter

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio —

Disturbance: Noble Road

At 8:30 a.m. Sept. 27, police were called to a woman’s home where an act of violence had occurred between the woman and a man, who was no longer on the scene. The woman told police that the man used to live with her and returns occasionally for visits.

The man spent the night and, in the morning, as she prepared to go to work, they argued over her sexually transmitted disease and from whom she may have acquired it.

The man punched the woman in the head and took her work shoes. He then told her everything would be resolved if she would perform a specific sex act on him.

The woman went into a bathroom to call police. The man broke the bathroom’s door handle, entered and tried to hit her with a hair clipper. He then left.

The woman’s only visible injury was a small scratch on her cheek.

She told police she did not want to pursue a charge against the man, but that she didn’t want him to return to her home.

Neighbor trouble: Beverly Drive

On Sept. 27, police took an online written statement from a woman who stated her concern over threats made while her husband walked their dogs at 6:45 a.m. that day.

The woman said that as her husband and their dogs walked, they encountered another dog, which made her dogs bark. Her husband calmed the dogs by commanding them to “calm down.”

A male resident on the street was upset by the noise and allegedly came to his home’s door and said he would “put a bullet through” a dog’s head and other threatening comments. The incident, the woman said, caused her family distress.

Police spoke with the neighbor, who denied making any threats. He said he was asleep and the barking woke him and that he only told the woman’s husband, “Really? At 5:30 in the morning?”

An officer told the man to call police if there were any future disturbances.

Domestic violence: Overlook Road

At 8:15 p.m. Sept. 28, police were dispatched to a home on Overlook Road where a woman attacked her sister. Officers learned that the two women were in the bedroom of their mother, who had recently died.

They were conversing when things got heated. One of the sisters began to walk away when the other sister, known for her bad temper, ran after her and stopped her. She then grabbed and scratched her sister’s face, punched her in the head, and ran her head into a wall.

A woman, a family friend who was packing up the home’s kitchen utensils heard the argument and stopped the attack.

When police spoke to the victim, she had blood running down her cheek. She said it was the second time her sister had assaulted her that blood was drawn.

The victim signed complaints against her sister for domestic violence and assault. The suspect had left the home before officers arrived.

Discharge of firearm: Dresden Road

At 10:40 p.m. Sept. 28, officers responded to reports of gunshots fired in the vicinity of Dresden Road. Police learned that as people were leaving a wedding reception at the Caledonia Community Center, 960 Caledonia Ave., a fight broke out among a large group of people.

A Dresden Road witness told police that about 15 people were initially fighting, and then about 20 more joined in. Another witness said a male apparently tried to break up the fight by raising his arm and firing four shots into the air. Another male then fired two shots into the air.

These males then picked up some of the bullet casings from the street, but officers went on to find a couple more.

Two Dresden female residents told police of hearing the shots and immediately getting on the floor of their homes.

A witness told police that some of the involved parties left in a vehicle bearing Wisconsin license plates. Police are following up on the license plate number.

Theft: Lee Road

At 11:20 p.m. Sept. 28, police were called to CVS/Pharmacy, 2160 Lee Road, on a report of a shoplifter. A male in the store had alerted a clerk that a man was shoplifting.

The clerk told police that the suspect was acting “funny.” She and the male customer followed the suspect, who said to the clerk that he was “not going anywhere” and that she should “call the cops.”

When police arrived the suspect and the male customer had departed the store. They were both found at a nearby bus stop. When an officer walked up to them, both started yelling at police. The male customer told police that the man stole items from the store. The suspect said that the other man had his back pack.

Police noted that the suspect, 54, was likely under the influence of a drug as he was sweating and had glassy eyes.

Police found in the suspect’s possession $74.44 worth of stolen CVS merchandise and a crack pipe. He was arrested on charges of theft and drug paraphernalia possession.

Hit-skip: Caledonia Avenue

At 8:20 p.m. Sept. 26, a woman reported that her car had been sideswiped as it was parked on the street on Caledonia Avenue. The woman was visiting her family when someone told her that her car had been hit.

She went outside and the car that hit hers was stopped just ahead of her vehicle, a Ford Explorer. When she approached the car, it was driven away. She told police the car’s license plate.

Police identified the male owner, but could not contact him.
