The arrest warrant against the former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette has been expanded by the Verden District Court due to two further offenses. The public prosecutor’s office in Verden, Lower Saxony, announced this upon request.

The “Welt” newspaper had previously reported that Klette was now accused of 13 robberies of supermarkets and armored cars. The public prosecutor’s office explained that, however, there was not strong suspicion in all 13 cases, which is necessary for an arrest warrant.

According to the media report, the other two crimes involve Robberies with accomplices: 2014 in a supermarket in Elmshorn in Schleswig-Holstein and 2015 in Osnabrück. No one was injured in the attacks. The police established the connection to the robberies after analyzing computers and cell phones from Klette’s Berlin apartment.

Klette was arrested in Kreuzberg

Since 2015, the Verden public prosecutor’s office has been investigating Klette and her former RAF comrades Burkhard Garweg and Ernst-Volker Staub for attempted murder and attempted and completed aggravated robbery in several cases. Klette was arrested at the end of February in Berlin-Kreuzberg, where she had been living under a false name. Since then, she has been in custody in Vechta, Lower Saxony. The search for Garweg and Staub is continuing.

In mid-August, Klette denied having attempted murder in a statement and spoke of state “denunciation” and “media incitement” against himself, Garweg and Staub. According to previous information, arrest warrants also exist against the trio on suspicion of involvement in terrorist attacks. They belonged to the so-called third generation of the left-wing extremist Red Army Faction (RAF). In 1998, the RAF, which had killed more than 30 people, declared itself disbanded. (dpa)
