With more than 70 exhibition openings, the Berlin Art Week 2024, where the capital’s art scene aims to attract international attention for the 13th time. Contemporary art can be seen in more than 100 museums and exhibition halls, private collections, project spaces and galleries.
According to the organizers, there will be more than 300 events with international stars and up-and-coming Berlin talents until Sunday. This year, the festival meeting point “BAW Garden” is hosted at the Gropius Bau and invites you to a free program in the open air. Photographer Candida Höfer is exhibiting at the Academy of Arts, artist Mariechen Danz at the Berlinische Galerie and works by Sigmar Polke (1941-2010) can be seen in the Schinkel Pavilion.
For Culture Senator Joe Chialo (CDU), the five-day festival is “the fixed star in the sky of the Berlin art calendar.” “It is the wonderful mix of the scene that makes Berlin one of the most important, diverse and exciting art metropolises in the world.” From the point of view of Economics Senator Franziska Giffey (SPD), Art Week contributes to Berlin’s reputation as an international art metropolis “above all through its wide range and unique mix.”
