Athletes Heß and Weber on the podium in Brussels

The German triple jumper Max Heß has confirmed his strong late form and took second place on the second day of competition at the Diamond League finals in Brussels. The 2016 European champion managed 17.20 metres in his best attempt and was only beaten by Tokyo Olympic champion Pedro Pichardo from Portugal (17.33 metres).

Heß finished second at the Diamond League meeting in Rome two weeks ago. He finished seventh at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Javelin thrower Julian Weber came third in the last major athletics competition of the season with 85.97 meters. Anderson Peters from Grenada won (87.87 meters).

Former European champion Gesa Krause achieved a season’s best and fourth place in the 3000 meter steeplechase. The 32-year-old ran 9:08.94 minutes. Kenyan Faith Cherotich won (9:02.36 minutes), while Lea Meyer came eighth (9:22.71).
