The audience award, the Golden Hen, is entering its decisive phase. Voting will be open from this Thursday. Then there will be time until September 25 to choose winners in the categories of entertainment, film & television, music and sport, as Hubert Burda Media announced. The audience award will be presented on November 15 in Leipzig. The show will be hosted by Florian Silbereisen and Barbara Schöneberger.
The prize is awarded jointly by the magazine “Super Illu” and MDR television. The Golden Hen was originally created to honor East German artists. The organizers now see it as a pan-German audience award. The winners receive a sculpture in the shape of a bird. The name of the prize is a reminder of the GDR entertainer Helga “Henne” Hahnemann, who died in 1991.
