Assistant coach Lars Knudsen from FC Augsburg will also be the head coach of the Danish national team for two more international matches in the Nations League. Despite the recovery of the actual national team coach Morten Wieghorst, Knudsen will continue to sit on the bench as acting national coach for the matches against Spain and Switzerland in October.
As the Danish Football Association (DBU) further announced, Wieghorst will act as assistant coach to his actual assistant. He is well enough to resume his work, but initially in a less demanding role.

Wieghorst was introduced this year as the successor to the previous national coach Kasper Hjulmand, initially to hold the position until the end of the year. Shortly before the Nations League opener against Switzerland and Serbia this month, however, he was unable to play in both matches due to mild stress symptoms.
Knudsen, who is actually assistant coach for both the Danish national team and Augsburg, stepped in and was released by FCA to do so. His debut was a success: the Danes, led by their midfield engine Christian Eriksen, won both games 2-0 in front of their home crowd in Copenhagen.
